A Grandfather's Journey to the Western Land

This is a record of an interview with Lu Chaoqin, the grandfather of Lay Practitioner Lu Honglian. He sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia and now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his journey after passing away long ago. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on June 27, 2025.

Lay Practitioner Lu Chaoqin speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Lu Chaoqin. I must express my deepest gratitude—truly, my deepest gratitude. I am a simple man, and my words are quite clumsy, so I struggle to find the right way to convey the magnitude of what I feel. I am so incredibly thankful to Practitioner Su for guiding me to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

A World Beyond Imagination

I never knew such a place as the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss existed. It is so breathtakingly beautiful, so profoundly comfortable. When I was still at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, in that place they call the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I already felt such immense relief and comfort in my spirit. But to have arrived here, in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss itself? It is even more wonderful, and my heart has never been so still, so completely at peace.

I truly believe that only those with deep blessings can arrive at this sacred place. I am filled with such profound gratitude that I was blessed enough to be brought here by Practitioner Su. Before this, I knew nothing of the practice of chanting Namo Amituofo. If someone had asked me to chant in the past, I would have been completely lost—I would not have understood the purpose or the power behind it.

The Blessings of Deliverance

Yet, how fortunate I am! Even though I passed away so long ago, I was still able to be saved. I owe everything to my granddaughter, Lu Honglian. If it were not for her performing the Chao Du for me, her grandfather, how could I have ever been rescued? How could I have ever had the chance to be saved by Practitioner Su?

I have been watching over my granddaughter. She is a person with very strong opinions and her own way of thinking. I want to offer her some counseling: please, try to change your personality traits. Do not overthink things so much, and try not to be so stubborn. When I was listening to the Dharma at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, I took every word to heart. I see that my granddaughter listens too, but she has not yet truly let the Dharma sink into her heart. She hears the words, but she has not yet truly changed her personality.

A Grandfather's Counsel

If my granddaughter can truly change, her physical health will improve significantly. Right now, I can see that there are many spirits within her body. If she can change her personality and practise chanting Namo Amituofo more diligently, these spirits will no longer be able to invade her body.

I am still learning myself, so I dare not speak too much. These words are simply what I have gathered from listening to the Dharma, and I only wish to share them with my granddaughter. I am doing very well now, and I will remain here, constantly chanting Namo Amituofo. Thank you, thank you so much.
