This interview was recorded on October 1, 2021, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. Lay Practitioner He Haoquan, the father of Lay Practitioner He Huiping, sought deliverance through the compassionate efforts of Practitioner Su. Having been rescued from the brink of being reincarnated, he now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss and shares his testimony to urge his family to practise the .
Lay Practitioner He Haoquan speaks:
". I, your disciple He Haoquan, have arrived in the Western Land. I kneel and bow my head in profound gratitude to the Buddha for His , and to Practitioner Su for His mercy, which has granted me the precious opportunity to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Since the moment of my death, I have truly come to understand the tragic nature of being reincarnated. When one is a spirit, you have absolutely no say in where you will be reincarnated next. The fear I felt in my heart was indescribable; there was no one to talk to, no one to help me. I had to face the cycle of reincarnation entirely alone. Even my most beloved family members were powerless to assist me in that dark, uncertain void.
A Voice from the Golden Light
I was on the very brink of entering a new womb when, suddenly, someone called out my name: 'He Haoquan! He Haoquan, come up here!' The voice was incredibly resonant and clear. I was certain it was calling for me. The sound emanated from a source of brilliant, radiant golden light. At first, I mistakenly thought it was a celestial deity calling me, but to my utter astonishment, it was Practitioner Su. In an instant, I was lifted away by Practitioner Su and brought to the Western Land of Dharma Nature. I was saved with only seconds to spare before I would have been bound to a new life.
I want to thank my daughter, Huiping, for everything she has done for me in this life. If it were not for the fact that my daughter still thought of me and was willing to arrange for my , it would have been impossible for Practitioner Su to rescue me. Had I not been saved, in less than ten months, I would have been born into the world again to continue suffering, only to die and fall back into the cycle of reincarnation once more.
The Urgency of Human Life
Huiping, can you hear your father speaking? This is the reality of being reincarnated—if you do not reach the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, you are destined to suffer forever. If in this lifetime my heart had been very bad, I might not have even had the chance to be reborn into the human world; I could have easily fallen into the hells to suffer retribution. Therefore, you must cherish the remaining years of your life. Life is incredibly short. When viewed from the perspective of the turning wheel of reincarnation, the human experience is fleeting—it ends in the blink of an eye. Yet, it is only within the human world that one has the power to transform . If you do not seize the opportunity in this lifetime, no one can truly know where you will go in the next, unless you are fortunate enough to encounter a living Buddha like Practitioner Su who can save us.
A Father's Final Advice
Your father did not understand these things before. I did not know to teach you to let go of your stubborn personality. It was only by listening to the Dharma talks here with Practitioner Su that I realised one truly cannot hold onto a rigid personality. Our attachments and temperaments only cause us to create karma, which ultimately drags us back into the cycle of reincarnation. I hope you will find a way to listen to Practitioner Su’s Dharma talks more often, and bring the whole family to listen and learn the Buddha’s teachings together. Only by practising the Dharma can the heart find true peace, and only then will you have the chance to return to the Western Land and reunite with your father.
I am so happy now. The Western Land is truly magnificent. Please thank Practitioner Su on my behalf, and tell our family members that they must practise the Dharma so that we can all be reunited in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss."
