Teachings by Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju:

To the children at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre:

Now that you know the Dharma power, merit, and Wisdom (Prajna) of Namo Amituofo are immeasurable,

and that all these are infused into the Holy Name "Namo Amituofo".

Thus, you can understand the reason for the magnificent merit, Dharma power, and majestic spiritual power of Namo Amituofo.

It is as if you have received a great gift from Namo Amituofo right before your eyes,

which you can obtain without any effort.

If you wish to attain the magnificent merit, Dharma power, and majestic spiritual power within the Buddha-name,

Namo Amituofo must be present in the hearts, vows, and actions of the fourfold assembly,

practise 24/7, chanting the Buddha-name with continuous chanting without interruption.

Let there be only Namo Amituofo in your heart,

let the words you speak be as pure and Good as Namo Amituofo,

let what you think and contemplate be only Namo Amituofo,

and furthermore, "arouse the Bodhi mind and single-mindedly recite Namo Amituofo" and practise it with a sincere heart.

For those who can practise in this way, the achievement of the state of deep peace and wisdom through Buddha-recitation is within reach.

Namo Amituofo is the Universal Buddha, whose reach extends to all Buddha lands and planetary beings in the Ten Directions (of the Dharma Realm).

As long as you wish for rebirth in the Western Pure Land and recite the Buddha-name "Namo Amituofo",

a lotus bearing the name of the practitioner will grow in the seven-jewelled lotus pond of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss;

you must diligently water it.

Chant the Buddha-name continuously, let the Buddha-name resound,

soaring to every corner of the sky, and even to worlds beyond the sky;

this is within the capability of Practitioner Su.

Furthermore, at every weekly Thrice Yearning Ceremony, I always remind the children:

Do not give rise to Anger; once a single thought of Anger arises, a million doors of obstruction are opened.

These are true words; the fourfold assembly should be cautious.

If you can transform this Anger into a heart of Buddha-recitation, filling every thought with the purity and Goodness of the Buddha-name,

under the blessing of Namo Amituofo, the Anger will gradually subside and disappear.

Continuous chanting without interruption of Namo Amituofo is the effective remedy for extinguishing the Five Poisons of Greed, Anger, Ignorance, Arrogance, and Doubt,

as well as the Five Desires: Wealth, Sexual Pleasure, Fame, Food, and Sleep,

and it can adjust improper hearts and actions and thoughts;

it is also the secret recipe for immunity against all illnesses. Use it well, use it well.

The Holy Name of Namo Amituofo resounds,

permeating your heart and mine, our eyes, and our ears,

permeating every cell, muscle, bone, and blood vessel of the entire body,

allowing all beings connected by karmic affinity within the body—whether they are karmic creditors, attached spirits, or demon crowds—

to receive the influence of the name of Namo Amituofo and obtain the magnificent merit of the Buddha-name,

and even transform karma, becoming beings of pure purity and pure Goodness, and then entering the assembly of those who have attained Awakening;

this is one of the countless manifestations.

This is also the result of the inconceivable majestic spiritual power of the Buddha-name.
