During the first session of the held on January 3, 2025, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju provided essential guidance on the nature of our actions and the subtle ways we create .
An unintentional transgression is a mistake committed without a conscious desire to do harm. Although you may not have intended to cause suffering, the moment every thought and intention arises in your mind, you have already planted a negative cause. Because you are unaware that you are committing a transgression, you continue to create karmic seeds. Even though your heart was not malicious, you will still experience the bitter fruits of these actions.
Consider how your physical presence and demeanour affect your karmic path:
There is a significant difference between unintentional mistakes and intentional transgressions. An intentional transgression occurs when you know that a certain action or word is forbidden, yet you choose to proceed regardless. Because the intent is clear, the resulting karmic retribution is far more severe.
Unintentional transgressions are particularly dangerous because they often leave you wondering why you are suffering. Because you do not recognise your error, you fail to change your ways. Consequently, you repeat the same mistakes over and over again, trapping yourself in a cycle of endless suffering. This is a common situation in the human world. Not only does this make it difficult to escape the cycle of rebirth, but it also creates the very causes that pull you into the Three Evil Realms.
In your ignorance, you may even create the causes for rebirth in the animal realm. For example, if one earns money through illegal or unethical means, their spirit may eventually be drawn into the womb of a cow. They are then reborn with of a cow, forced to labour and suffer until the debt of their ill-gotten gains has been fully repaid.
You must change your ways immediately upon realising a mistake. Small acts of evil, when left unchecked, will eventually accumulate into great harm. You must remain vigilant at all times; do not let your guard down, for even a moment of negligence can lead to a great disaster. When the retribution manifests, it is your own body and mind that will endure the suffering, and these karmic obstacles will severely hinder your spiritual achievements. Let us always be mindful of our thoughts and actions, ensuring they align with the path of wisdom and .
