The sound of the Holy Name, Namo Amituofo, resonates throughout the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. It is a profound truth that this sacred sound is not heard only by the fourfold assembly present in the physical space of the temple. It permeates every corner of the grounds, reaching into different dimensions that exist beyond our ordinary perception. This indicates that the power of the Holy Name has the unique ability to break through the barriers of space, extending its reach into realms far beyond our own.
This is especially evident on Wednesdays and Thursdays. When Practitioner Su leads the fourfold assembly to the temple grounds or along the roads to practise walking meditation and chant Buddha's name, the six-syllable Holy Name played from Practitioner Su’s vehicle carries a transformative energy. This sound is not confined to the physical air; it penetrates through the layers of space, reaching into other realms within and around the temple. When Practitioner Su asks the flowers and grasses if they are chanting Buddha's name, these beings in other dimensions respond. Some answer that they are indeed chanting, while others remain silent. The long, resonant tones of the Holy Name "Namo Amituofo" chant, as offered by Practitioner Su and the fourfold assembly, allow these beings in other dimensions to hear the Holy Name and join in the recitation at that very moment.
For the flowers and grasses that join in this chanting, a miracle occurs: they break through the limitations of their own dimension. Their spirits are then perceived by the great, compassionate, and dignified Namo Amituofo, who appears in the sky above, his light shining with incomparable brilliance. Through this connection, they receive the grace of . At the same time, other sentient beings, spirits, and who have been connected by karmic affinity also experience a profound shift. They shed their karmic garments—the forms that have bound them to their current state—and are restored to their original nature. They are then gently led by the light of Namo Amituofo into the realms of humans and devas, or directly into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
This is truly an opportunity that is difficult to encounter even in millions of years for the spirits, flowers, grasses, and other sentient beings residing within these spaces. It is a moment of supreme grace, where spirits are finally able to enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, achieve liberation from the cycle of rebirth, and receive the blessing of Chao Du. Every flower, every blade of grass, every stone, and every tile at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre possesses a spirit, whether they are considered sentient or insentient. This is the living reality of the chanting at our Centre, a testament to the boundless of Namo Amituofo.
