The Suffering of the World and the Path to Salvation
Those who have never experienced true suffering often fail to understand its nature. They may mistakenly believe that their current comfort is permanent, or they may be so naive that they do not recognise the inherent suffering within the cycle of being reincarnated. Some may even become curious about the worldly life, tempted by its fleeting pleasures, and in doing so, they abandon the path of practice. They trade the eternal peace of the for the temporary distractions of the material world.
However, once they have tasted the bitter fruit of their choices, they find themselves trapped. They are caught in a cycle of suffering from which they cannot easily escape, as the weight of their own actions pulls them deeper into the mire. They continue to create and must inevitably receive the retribution for their deeds. When they finally realise their mistakes and feel regret, it is often too late, for they have already been pulled back into the cycle of being reincarnated.
To know your , to cherish them, and to refrain from complaining is a profound practice. You must treasure the blessings and the Dharma affinity you have worked so hard to attain, as these are not easily acquired. This attitude is a manifestation of true Wisdom (Prajna) and a noble virtue. It is a beautiful quality that sustains the practitioner through the most difficult times.
As a practitioner, you must remain in a state of gratitude. Be active and persistent in your efforts. You must break through the barriers of being drowsy and inadequate, continuing your journey forward until you finally realise your true self and become an awakened being. One who knows and cherishes their blessings in this way is truly a wise person. By making good use of these Causal Conditions, they successfully rediscover their true self.
The presence of such a wise person is a great blessing for all beings. They provide the opportunity for suffering beings to leave suffering behind and attain rebirth in the . This is the ultimate goal of our practice, and it is the greatest gift we can offer to the world. This message was recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
