Beings of Space
An Interview with Guo Yonghuai (Renowned Chinese Aerodynamicist and Applied Mathematician)
Space is infinite and without end, much like the present moment that is always here with us. Every single moment we experience creates a space of its own. When you consider how many moments have passed, you begin to realise that there are countless spaces formed within the flow of time. From the time you were a child until you reached adulthood, how many years have passed? Within those years, how many spaces have been created and occupied by your thoughts?
Your spirit has existed since beginningless time. You have already traversed countless aeons, passing through life after life. If you were to ask how many moments have passed from those ancient aeons until today, you would find that the number of spaces created is impossible to calculate or measure. These spaces may remain hidden, yet the moment your stirs and a thought arises, a new space manifests. Every single thought carries with it a space; if your thoughts are too numerous to count, then the spaces they create are equally uncountable.
When each of these spaces manifests before you, it often brings with it the karmic patterns of your past. Your appear within these spaces, and their influence acts as a tether, pulling your spirit into the cycle of rebirth. If you lack meditative concentration, your thoughts will scatter like dust in the wind. This state of mental fragmentation leads you into a state of being drowsy, as if you are lost in a deep, confused dream from which you cannot wake.
However, if your awareness is the master of your mind, you can remain steady. When you hold the Buddha-name of in your heart, you are protected. This sacred name acts as a shield, guiding you away from confusion and toward a state of profound peace. Through this practice, your heart becomes pure, your mind becomes clear, and you can finally realise the true nature of your spirit. By relying on the power of Namo Amituofo, you can transcend the limitations of these transient spaces and find the ultimate clarity that leads to liberation.
