My dear children, you must understand that a heart that does not abide in anything is the swiftest path for you to see . This state of having no-abiding is the essence of a pure heart, one that is entirely free from desire and untainted by the dust of the world. When your heart dwells upon external objects, it becomes stained and attached. Therefore, you must exert great effort to purify this heart.
Your spiritual practice is essentially the ongoing, diligent process of purifying this heart, stripping away the layers of confusion that have accumulated over countless lifetimes. Once your heart is purified and your true self is revealed, your practice reaches completion. You will then be ready to join the ranks of those who work to save the world, deliver beings, and guide them toward rebirth in the of Ultimate Bliss.
You may ask how you can practically purify this heart in your daily life. Let us look at the example of your eyes and ears:
By consistently applying this method, you prevent the external world from leaving deep imprints upon your .
As your practice deepens, you may find that your begin to perceive things beyond the ordinary. If your eyes are purified, you may begin to see spirit realm beings and witness the conditions of those spaces. If your ears are purified, you may begin to hear the voices of beings within those spiritual spaces. However, you must maintain strong meditative concentration in these moments.
You must never allow your mind to wander; you must remain anchored in the name of Namo Amituofo, ensuring that your heart and your thoughts remain pure and focused.
Those who have realised their true nature, and those who listen to the sutras and hear the with correct knowledge and views, will not be deceived by these illusory realms. They understand that everything their Six Roots perceive—including the sights and sounds of the spiritual realms—is ultimately illusory. Because they possess deep meditative concentration, they remain unmoved. They do not experience fear, , or any emotional fluctuation. They use these solely as a tool to save the world and deliver beings.
When you seek to see the Buddha, you must understand that you are also a Buddha. It is only because of your confusion and inverted views that your true nature is currently obscured. You must see the Buddha with a pure heart and a heart of gratitude. When you chant the name of Namo Amituofo, you are like the Buddha, and you are on the path to become a Buddha.
