This is a record of an interview with Mo Wanxing, a demon who sought to interfere with the work of Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He has since been delivered and now resides in the Western Land of Nature, having been given the Dharma name Shi Guangcheng. This account reflects upon his transformation and his observations of the Dharma assembly. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Jing, on October 4, 2023.
Mo Wanxing (Shi Guangcheng) speaks:
". I am a demon who originated from a realm far beyond this world. I never imagined that I would have the opportunity to be interviewed like this. My life was quite unremarkable; the only thing that stands out is my journey to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to seek out Practitioner Su. Everything else is trivial, hardly worth mentioning.
A Desolate Existence
I lived in an environment where the surface was nothing but jagged, barren rock. If you were to travel around that entire planet, the scenery would barely change. Those unfamiliar with the terrain would often lose their way, but that was of little consequence, as very few demon crowds ever ventured into that godforsaken place. Because of the harshness of our environment, we were constantly forced to invade the territories of other demon crowds, seizing their land just to survive. While we were scouting for our next target, rumours began to circulate among the demon realms: the number of demon crowds was dwindling rapidly. They were being subdued by a human on Earth known as Practitioner Su, who was sending them to a place called the Western Land of Dharma Nature. We heard that some of the great Demon Kings were even being interviewed by the monastics at the temple, forced to tell their own stories.
I never thought for a moment that I would end up like those Demon Kings, brought here to be interviewed. In truth, my capture by Practitioner Su was entirely an accident."
The Life of a Wandering Demon
"I was just wandering around as I usually did, living a life of aimless freedom. I only invaded the territories of others when it was necessary for survival; otherwise, it is not in my nature to stir up trouble or engage in unnecessary conflict. I truly enjoyed the freedom of roaming alone. To be able to expand my territory without having to get into heated arguments or end up in a mutually destructive battle—well, that was a 'good deal' I was more than happy to accept. So, when I first noticed that the number of demon crowds was decreasing, as if they were simply vanishing into thin air, I was secretly pleased. But that was only at the very beginning.
As time passed, my solitary wanderings began to feel hollow. I used to see everyone gathered together, chattering away, discussing the latest news about which planet had been invaded or what great event had occurred. Now, there was only a chilling silence. It was then that I realised we demon crowds, much like the humans on Earth, are meant to live in communities. Looking back, I see how foolish and ignorant my previous way of thinking was."
The Journey to the Brightest Place on Earth
"Ultimately, I decided to summon my courage and seek out this human on Earth called Practitioner Su. I had heard that the place where he resided was the brightest spot on the planet, and that Namo Amituofo himself abides there. Every day, countless sentient beings and demon crowds gather there, especially during the , which are incredibly lively. More and more sentient beings flock from all directions, packing the temple until it is bursting at the seams, all waiting to be saved by Practitioner Su and sent to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. For them, this is a once-in-a-thousand-years opportunity to escape the six realms of rebirth. Every sentient being is desperate to seize this chance, terrified that they might miss the Causal Conditions to be sent to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Following these clues, I quickly located the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia—a precious land in the human world, a place that only those with great can find. When I first arrived, I hovered in the sky above the temple to observe. It happened to be the day of a Dharma assembly. Even before it began, the sky above the temple was already filled with countless sentient beings waiting for . Beyond them, other demon crowds were circling the perimeter, looking for any opportunity to launch a magic attack against Practitioner Su."
The Mystery of Practitioner Su
"Heavens! Who exactly is this Practitioner Su? What kind of skills or magic does he possess that he can attract so many demon crowds, endure their relentless magic attacks, and yet still lead the assembly and send immeasurable and boundless beings to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss? I began to admire this human from Earth. What did he look like? Did he have three heads and six arms to withstand the endless onslaught of the demon crowds? Gradually, a thought began to stir within me: I started to regret coming here, and I even felt a sense of dread. But since I was already here, I decided to keep watching. I hadn't done anything yet, so if something went wrong, I could just wait for a chance to escape.
Soon, the Dharma assembly was about to begin. I heard the sound of the great drum echoing through the sky, vibrating into the vastness of the universe, shattering the silence. The atmosphere at the scene instantly became solemn and dignified. The throngs of sentient beings grew quiet, and the people inside the temple hurried into the Buddha Hall."
The Moment of Capture
"This was a grand event for the entire universe, a Dharma assembly that commanded the attention of all. Suddenly, a person dressed in white, with a face full of , came into my view. Could this be the person known as Practitioner Su? I wondered to myself. My thoughts were quickly confirmed; it was indeed him. But wait! This was strange. He clearly did not have three heads or six arms. He even had white hair and looked quite ordinary. The only thing that stood out was that his face looked very much like a Buddha. How was this different from what I had imagined? How did he manage to subdue so many great Demon Kings?
Just as I was about to move closer to get a better look and see if there was anything else extraordinary about him, the great qing chime suddenly rang out. In an instant, I was sucked into the Western Land of Dharma Nature. How could this happen? The accident had occurred so quickly! Without any warning, and without even enough time to flee, I had been captured by Practitioner Su. At that moment, I finally had an 'Aha!' moment. I understood instantly that this was how most of the other demon crowds had been sent to the Western Land of Dharma Nature. This Practitioner Su was truly an extraordinary person; his skills were indeed inconceivable and lived up to his reputation. I bowed my head in defeat. I had no complaints. I could only sit obediently in the Western Land of Dharma Nature and listen to Practitioner Su give his Dharma talks."
Witnessing the Magnificence of Deliverance
"After being sent to the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I sat openly on a lotus seat to watch the Dharma assembly. At this point, I no longer needed to hide or worry about when I would be discovered by Practitioner Su. My tense nerves gradually relaxed, and I watched every move of the assembly in silence.
This was my first time attending a Dharma assembly; I felt as excited as a child on a school field trip. Seeing the countless sentient beings in the space being sent to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I felt genuinely happy for them. When the music of the assembly began and Practitioner Su started the chanting for Chao Du, I saw large groups of beings being sent into the golden light. The Holy Name 'Namo Amituofo' constantly opened up the space, and infinitely layered sentient beings were saved one by one from the darkness. The scene was truly magnificent."
The Spirituality of All Things
"Practitioner Su's broke through every dimension, traversing the void. Not a single place was forgotten. His only focus was the continuous Chao Du of beings, hoping that they could escape from their confined spaces as soon as possible. I saw that the sentient beings within the earth—whether they were small blades of grass with life or inanimate stones—could leave their spaces as long as they were willing to follow along and chant the Holy Name 'Namo Amituofo.' Every single thing in existence possesses spirituality. Seeing them emerge from their spaces and reveal their original forms filled my heart with emotion. It turned out that those sentient beings had only been trapped in those spaces due to or a single stray thought.
Immeasurable and boundless sentient beings—whether they were the beings attached to the fourfold assembly or the ghosts and demon crowds in the space—were all sent to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss by the Twelve Lights. The Buddha stood at the forefront, receiving the beings with a compassionate smile. This is truly inconceivable! The fourfold assembly of disciples who are able to practise here must truly cherish this place and grasp this magnificent Causal Condition. Please, do not fall asleep during the Dharma assembly; that would be such a pity. What Practitioner Su says is true: as long as you are awake and keep your eyes open to participate in the Chao Du, even a small effort of yours carries immense merit. Everyone, please remember this.
I am deeply grateful to Practitioner Su for his compassion in sending me to the Western Land of Dharma Nature. I am no longer a wandering demon idling away my time. If it were not for this Causal Condition, I might never have known that the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is such a wonderful place. Now, I am willing to follow the Buddha to save the world. I am grateful to the Buddha for giving me this opportunity. Thank you, Buddha. Thank you, Practitioner Su."
