The Endless Cycle of Revenge

When will the cycle of karmic retribution ever come to an end? In this world, we are often trapped in a relentless sequence of vengeance. At this moment, one person seeks to settle a score for the hatred in their heart, causing the other to suffer. I endure this pain to resolve their grievance, yet in time, the roles are reversed as I seek my own retribution for the hatred in my heart. Then, they become the one suffering the retribution to resolve my grievance. This cycle of revenge—his revenge, my revenge—is the very appearance of being reincarnated. The grievances and grudges within this cycle are truly uncountable. Why not choose to set these grievances aside?

A Gathering of Souls in the Dharma Field

Look closely at where we are at this very moment. We are gathered within a sacred space, surrounded by a vast assembly of beings:

• The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, who watch over us with infinite compassion.The pure assembly of practitioners, who dedicate their hearts to the Dharma.The Dharma protectors, who are orbiting the Dharma field to ensure the sanctity of this space.The karmic creditors and those with spiritual attachments, who have followed us through lifetimes.
