The following teachings were provided by Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju and recorded by Venerable HaiZe on the eleventh of February, 2023. In this discourse, we explore the nature of the universe and our place within it.
Heaven is infinitely vast and expansive. It serves as the bridge that connects the heavenly realms with the boundless void of the Realm. There is no true separation between them; they are naturally linked and exist as one unified whole. In contrast, the Earth is profoundly deep and wide. It connects the various layers of the physical world down to the hell realms. This is a place of darkness, devoid of light, and filled with extreme suffering.
We must realise that the heavens, the earth, and the vastness of the Dharma Realm are not merely external phenomena. They exist both outside our physical bodies and within our very hearts. Whether we look to the world around us or turn our gaze inward, we find the same heavens, the same earth, and the same Dharma Realm. Regardless of where they appear, these realms are all manifested by the heart.
Because our environment is a reflection of our internal state, the work of self-cultivation is essential. We must engage in the following practices to align ourselves with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way:
By doing so, we can live in harmony with the heavens, the earth, and all sentient beings. This is the fundamental lesson for every practitioner.
When you can align your own heart, actions, and vows with those of the Buddha, you enter a state of supreme purity and goodness. This is the path to true liberation. By holding firmly to the six-character name of Namo Amituofo, you reveal the infinite qualities of the Buddha:
Living in harmony with the heavens, the earth, and the sentient beings of the Dharma Realm is not merely a goal; it is a necessary ability for those who wish to save the world and rescue suffering beings. It is the natural manifestation of the true self that emerges in those who are truly dedicated to their practice. When you practise with sincerity, this innate power of your true self will naturally shine forth.
