The onset of illness often arrives when we are least prepared, catching us entirely off guard. At Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, we have uncovered many profound mysteries regarding the physical form. One of the most significant revelations is that the root cause of many illnesses lies in the interference of spirits residing within . These spirits, which include , attached spirits, or demon crowds, disrupt the normal function of our cells. When these cells are unable to perform their natural duties, they suffer from functional impairments, which eventually manifest as physical disease.
When we suffer from the pain of illness, our natural inclination is to seek medical treatment in hopes of finding relief or a cure. In truth, while modern medicine is capable of observing changes in our physical organs and cells, it remains unable to perceive the spiritual interference that causes these disruptions. It cannot see the damage inflicted by these unseen entities. Often, once the interference from these spirits is resolved, the physical pain and symptoms associated with the illness begin to subside or disappear entirely. This is the working of the laws of and cause and effect. Our physical body serves as a vessel for these beings to seek revenge, repay grievances, settle debts, or return kindnesses.
When illness manifests due to the presence of these beings, it is essential to take proactive steps to address the underlying spiritual causes. Your own efforts are vital to the healing process:
Even if you dedicate yourself fully to the Buddha’s teachings, you must be wary of hidden obstacles. If your personality remains unchanged, if your emotional entanglements persist, or if your practice is tainted by selfishness, your karma will not be transformed. In such cases, even if the retribution from your karmic creditors is temporarily delayed, it will eventually manifest. You will still find yourself pressured by the suffering of aging, sickness, and death. However, do not be discouraged; all the merit and you have accumulated through your service to the Dharma remain intact. They are never lost, as everything is governed by the heart and the laws of karma and cause and effect.
The Buddha's blessings are always present, working in tandem with your own efforts. If you harbour complaints or dissatisfaction, the power of your own practice is diminished. constantly and selflessly blesses your karmic creditors through the Buddha-light and the Buddha-name, even if these beings are unaware of it or even if they slander the Buddha. During such times, the most effective path is to purify your heart, chant Buddha's name, repent, change your ways, and seek to resolve conflicts through Chao Du or by receiving spiritual healing.
To be truly free from illness is a magnificent blessing, regardless of one's age. For those who have attained this state, especially the elderly, it means:
For those who chant Buddha's name, this state may lead to knowing the time of one's passing in advance, being led by the Buddha to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, or achieving awakened being status and attaining the freedom to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is truly a magnificent Dharma affinity and the greatest blessing one can receive in this lifetime.
