The Infinite Burden of Past Lives

My dear children, from the beginningless past until this very moment, we have accumulated an immeasurable and uncountable amount of karmic debt. These karmic creditors have followed us through countless lifetimes, waiting for the right conditions to manifest. Yet, today, you are fortunate enough to be here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, a sacred Buddha-land where the presence of Namo Amituofo is truly felt. Namo Amituofo possesses great compassion and will never abandon a single being, no matter how heavy their past transgressions may be.

The Buddha’s Vision of Potential Buddhahood

To the eyes of the Buddha, every single being is a Buddha in the making. We are currently trapped in the cycle of rebirth and suffering only because we are lost in confusion. If we can awaken, if we can truly realise our original nature, we are Buddhas. Namo Amituofo’s Buddha-light shines upon every being without discrimination. This light is not merely a physical radiance; it is the embodiment of infinite compassion that embraces all beings, regardless of their past actions or current state of mind.

The Healing Power of the Buddha-Light

This light acts as a gentle, warming force that melts away the deep-seated sorrow and grief that reside within the hearts of all beings. It resolves the complex, painful, and often indescribable anger and resentment that have been held for aeons. When you find yourself facing the manifestation of your past karma, you should not feel despair. Instead, you should hold a heart of gratitude. It is a great blessing that you are currently in this sacred Buddha-land, where the conditions for liberation are ripe.

The Path of Repentance and Deliverance

When these karmic creditors appear before you, you must seize the opportunity to resolve the conflict. You should follow these steps to ensure your practice is effective:

• Maintain a Sincere Heart: When the beings you have harmed in the past manifest, you must offer a heart of true repentance.
• Change Your Ways: Repentance is not merely words; it is the firm resolve to change your ways and never repeat the mistakes of the past.
• Utilise the Power of Chao Du: Through the combined power of Namo Amituofo and the Dharma Body of Practitioner Su, we can invite these spirits to receive the Dharma.
• Resolution and Deliverance: Once the karmic debts are resolved through this process, Namo Amituofo will lead these beings into the light.

By doing this, these beings are given the precious opportunity to either chant Namo Amituofo and achieve rebirth in the Western Pure Land or to be reborn into the human or heavenly realms. This is an opportunity that is difficult to encounter even in millions of years. By saving these beings, you are simultaneously saving yourself and clearing away your own old karmic debts.
