If you have truly tasted the depths of suffering, you will naturally become vigilant. You will not dare to relax for even a single second, fearing the manifestation of further . When one has deeply felt the sting of hardship, the desire to avoid creating the causes for future suffering becomes an instinctual part of one's practice.
When you are enduring hardship, you must realise that the karmic creditors residing within your body are suffering even more than you are. This current suffering is the fruit of past causes you have sown. You once created the conditions that forced these beings to suffer, and now, the laws of and cause and effect have brought that suffering back to you. Everything is governed by these laws; not a single detail is ever missed. The laws of karma and cause and effect are absolute and never deceive. My child, as you reflect on these truths, what have you come to understand about your own life?
Suffering is, in its essence, an illusion. You do not have to remain trapped in this cycle of pain. You can choose to leave suffering behind and find true happiness. To prevent suffering from manifesting again, you must cultivate a disciplined approach to your daily life:
