Doing Only One Thing in a Lifetime, Beings' Affairs at the Time of Buddhahood
If your emotions are not heavy, you would not be born into this Saha world. If your love is not deep, you would not fall into the cycle of reincarnation. These emotions and attachments are forms of impurity; they are the direct manifestation of your . As beings drifting in the vast ocean of karma within this world, we are constantly tossed about by the waves of our own emotional attachments. These thoughts are difficult to stop; they arise in a continuous, unbroken stream. We follow our karma, driven by the Seven Emotions and the , creating layers of pollution that weigh upon our spirits. Because these attachments are so difficult to let go of and so hard to release, they become the very reason we find it impossible to escape from the cycle of reincarnation.
Beings float and sink in this ocean of karma, drifting through the cycle of reincarnation without end. To the eyes of the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and those who have attained a higher level of practice, this state of existence is truly beyond words in its suffering. Yet, ordinary beings remain unaware and unclear about their own condition, passing through life after life in this state of confusion. If you truly wish to leave suffering behind and engage in genuine practice, you must be willing to take the first step: leaving impurity to enter purity.
The journey begins with the purification of your heart. Only when you start to cleanse your inner world can you hope to see a transformation in your actions and the manifestation of pure signs. You must learn to let go of the dust of worldly attachments. Do not let these things linger in your heart, and do not allow yourself to be caught by them. Only by doing so can you stop being stained by the world, leave impurity behind, and attain purity. This process is an absolute necessity for anyone walking the path of practice.
When you are pure, your mind becomes clear, and your goals become sharp and well-defined. This clarity allows you to be diligent in your spiritual achievements, and even to be fiercely diligent. If you keep the Buddha-name of with you 24/7, never letting it break, you will find yourself becoming purer and purer. This practice helps your Body-Mind-Spirit undergo a profound purification, ensuring that you are no longer contaminated by the world. In this way, you will eventually reach the moment of , where you realise your true nature. Namo Amituofo.
