During the third session of the , we are reminded of the essential spirit required for our spiritual journey. Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju offers us a powerful directive: to go straight ahead. This is not merely a physical movement, but a profound state of mind and a commitment to the righteous path.
To go straight ahead is to embody the very essence of a dedicated practitioner. It is an expression of true boldness and the courage to face one's own karmic obstacles. It is the manifestation of deep Wisdom and boundless , and it is the living embodiment of Faith, Practice, and Vows. When you walk upon the path of practice, you must ensure that every step you take is aligned with the righteous path. Do not let your mind wander or your resolve weaken; simply go straight ahead.
True practice is always directed toward the benefit of all sentient beings, rather than the pursuit of personal gain. If you find yourself acting for the sake of fame, profit, or personal recognition, you have strayed from the path. Instead, focus your efforts on what truly serves the collective. When you act with a selfless heart, you can proceed directly toward your goal without the burden of ego. This is the way to ensure that your actions remain pure and effective.
At Hsiang Kuang: A Sacred Sanctuary, we are given the perfect environment to change our ways, cultivate gratitude, and remain active and persistent in our practice. To go straight ahead here means to embrace the process of purification with an unwavering spirit. Align your actions with the Buddha's vows, and strive to alleviate the suffering of all beings. When you see that a task must be done, do it immediately. Do not compare yourself to others, do not hesitate, do not look back, and do not stop. Only through this single-minded dedication will you reach the moment of fulfilled achievement.
Your practice must be firmly rooted in the guidance of the Buddha or . Immerse yourself in the Buddha-heart and the Buddha’s words. Follow the teachings found within the sutras, and ensure that you receive them with faith and put them into practice. Rely on your true spiritual friend for guidance, observing the conditions and the needs of those around you. By seeking to rediscover your true self, you will be able to save the world, rescue infinite beings, and perform to help them reach the of Ultimate Bliss. In all these things, simply go straight ahead.
