Spiritual practice is fundamentally distinct from the ordinary life of a layperson in the world. To walk this path, one must be able to endure the tests that arise. Only by standing firm through these trials can one take steady steps forward on the road to .
When you live and practise alongside fellow practitioners, you will inevitably encounter differences in personality, habits, and perspectives. You may find that your daily routines, your ways of thinking, and your methods of working differ from those around you. These differences often lead to friction in your daily interactions.
How do you respond to such friction? This is where your , Wisdom, mind-capacity, and ability to be inclusive are put to the test. In every single interaction, you must learn to reflect upon yourself. It is through these practical, everyday situations that your true nature is revealed and your spiritual qualities are cultivated.
You must develop the magnanimity to appreciate the strengths of others. When you see others grow and improve, recognise that their progress can also serve as a mirror to help you learn and grow yourself. When your views differ, learn to take a step back. Practise accepting the shortcomings and unique perspectives of those around you with an open heart.
When you encounter the natural processes of physical aging or the onset of illness, you should take this as a signal to look within. You must reflect on whether there are aspects of your life that are not in accordance with the . Perhaps a true spiritual friend has offered you a reminder or a word of advice. When you realise where you have gone wrong, you must be willing to change your ways. By doing so, you can prevent the acceleration of aging and the worsening of your physical condition.
