Lay Practitioner Su Xiaomou, the younger brother of Lay Practitioner Su Xiaojiao, passed away suddenly, leaving him lost in the void. Seeking deliverance, he was guided to the through the compassionate efforts of Practitioner Su. This interview, recorded on December 12, 2025, captures his reflections on his journey from suffering to the peace of the of Ultimate Bliss.
Lay Practitioner Su Xiaomou speaks:
"! I, Su Xiaomou, have reached the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss! Here, I cannot help but sing 'Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo' continuously. I never imagined that I would possess such karmic fortune—or perhaps it was my good roots—that after my sudden passing, I would have the opportunity to be saved through and brought to this magnificent world, the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss!"
"In the human world, one leaves with nothing; I simply departed just like that. At the time, I was screaming out in the void, feeling so unwilling, so cheated. How could I just leave? There were so many things I still wanted to do, and so many family members waiting for me, grieving for me, while I was forced to leave them behind. My entire heart was knotted in agony. I felt so helpless and so unsettled. Back then, I did not know how to chant Buddha's name, and I had no direction for the future. It felt as if I were trapped in a cycle of repeating the same painful actions over and over. It was truly, truly agonising—a feeling of calling out to the heavens with no response, and calling out to the earth with no answer."
"It must have been a very long time, but suddenly, I heard a call! I tried my hardest to listen to who was summoning me. I was not entirely certain, but I could be sure that it was a very gentle, beautiful voice. I felt a surge of , sensing that a turning point had finally arrived. Soon, a beam of light shone upon me, and I arrived at this place called the Western -Nature Land. Later, I learned that my sister knew of this place and had requested Chao Du for me. I realise that in this place, Namo Amituofo truly exists and can guide the deceased into the Western Dharma-Nature Land. This is also the world established by Practitioner Su after he attained Buddhahood."
"Looking back at the sequence of events, everything is now clear to me in the Western Dharma-Nature Land. I realise that my death did not occur without reason; everything is rooted in the laws of and cause and effect. Because I understand this now, my heart has found a sense of peace. I no longer complain about why fate dealt me such a hand, for I know this was a debt I had to repay. If my repayment of this debt has caused my family in the living world such deep sorrow, I must offer you my sincerest apologies. Now, I am doing very well because I am following the Buddha. I ask my family and my sister to please set your hearts at ease. I am so deeply grateful to all of you."
"If I could live my life over again, I would want to study the Dharma properly and truly change myself. If a person can genuinely rectify their habits and wholeheartedly follow the Buddha, even the laws of karma and cause and effect can be resolved. All it takes is a sincere heart and a heart dedicated to serving others. Having gone through this experience, I have become much more mature and different. I hope everyone can come to know Namo Amituofo and the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss just as I have. I am so grateful to the Buddha and to Practitioner Su; they are both my wonderful Teachers. It is because of them that I have had this opportunity for purification, and I am now completely different from who I was before."
"Namo Amituofo."
