Moving Forward
The Suffering of the World and the Path to Salvation
The heart of a practitioner should always remain calm and without waves. Even if the world outside is as chaotic as ten thousand galloping horses, your heart must remain still. By maintaining this inner stillness, the impurities within your heart will gradually settle, and you will no longer be stirred by external disturbances. This is how your Body-Mind-Spirit can be purified and protected from further contamination.
To achieve the fastest purification and ensure your mind is no longer polluted, you must master the art of letting go. This is the first essential step in your practice:
The second pillar of your practice is diligent practice, which serves as a vital shortcut for dissolving spiritual obstacles and achieving purification. When you can be fiercely diligent, you are demonstrating true and wisdom, both for yourself and for all other beings. By achieving success in your practice one day earlier, you and all those connected to you can leave suffering behind and find happiness that much sooner.
The third pillar is to chant Buddha's name, which is the most concrete action you can take to dissolve and purify your mind. This is the path of the two powers of the school:
When you chant with a sincere heart, you will naturally enter a state of meditative concentration, free from the waves of distraction. This is the great method for saving yourself and others, ensuring your eventual rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Remember that calmness is the fundamental skill of all spiritual practice. To be without waves is the ultimate achievement that follows a long process of purification, clearing away obstacles, and diligent practice. May you always keep your heart as still as a tranquil pond, reflecting the light of the Buddha.
