As we gather on this seventeenth day of the Yilan seminar, 'Awaken the Life Heart, Live a New Life,' we reflect upon the profound significance of a new morning. There is an ancient wisdom that says the success of the entire day is determined by the quality of the morning. When you wake, you are presented with a fresh opportunity to align your heart and mind with the Truth.
To truly embrace this new beginning, you must learn to release your attachments to the three realms of time: the present, the past, and the future. Do not cling to your current circumstances, do not carry the weight of yesterday's regrets, and do not exhaust your spirit by worrying about what has yet to manifest. A new beginning is like the rising sun; it is a powerful, positive force that guides you to turn toward the light of clarity and wisdom.
A genuine beginning does not happen by chance; it begins with the preparation of your heart. You must realise that you are constantly in a position to welcome a new direction. To do this, you must learn to flow with Causal Conditions without grasping at anything. You should not be burdened by unnecessary attachments or material desires. In every moment, you should be ready to let go, and in every moment, you are beginning anew.
If you can master every minute and every second, you are truly engaged in the path of practice. This requires you to cease your preoccupation with the past and focus entirely on the present moment, which is the only place where life truly unfolds. By anchoring yourself in the clarity of the now, you cultivate new hope.
As you move through your day, you must face all Causal Conditions with a gentle heart. At the same time, you must maintain the awareness to let go of these conditions once they have served their purpose. This is the art of beginning, and it is also the process of learning how to achieve the state of appearing in the world—the ability to live within the world without being trapped by it.
Many people hold onto the world with a desperate grip, fearing that if they let go, they will lose everything. However, you must understand that the sun will always rise again. The cycle of life is constant, and each day offers the same opportunity: a fresh start where you possess nothing, yet are free from all burdens.
True contentment and freedom are found in this very understanding. When you align yourself with the flow of Causal Conditions, you experience the awakening of a new morning. This is the state of a mind that is at peace, unburdened by the illusions of the world, and fully present in the light of the Buddha's wisdom. May you carry this spirit of renewal into every moment of your life, leaving suffering behind and finding true happiness.
