A Brother's Journey to the Western Pure Land

This is a record of an interview with Yi Fei, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his spiritual journey following his passing. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on February 11, 2022.

Yi Fei speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Yi Fei. (Sobbing...) Sister, we were siblings in this life, and I am so deeply grateful for your help. My life in the human world has passed, and I am truly sorry for all the worries I caused you during my time there. Thank you, sister, for helping me reach the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Upon arriving here, I immediately knelt before the Buddha to repent, praying with all my heart that He would cleanse me of the sins of my past and present lives.

Before I was rescued, I was suffering in the hells. Every wail I let out was piercing and desolate; there was no one who could help me. My heart was constantly consumed by fear, a terror so profound it is difficult to describe. It was only because my sister invited Practitioner Su to intervene that I was finally pulled up from those dark, suffocating depths."

From the Depths of Hell

"When I was first saved, I could only gasp for air, over and over again. My heart was racing, thinking: 'How fortunate! I have finally escaped that terrifying place.' At first, I found this new environment somewhat dull. I had no interest in listening to the Dharma talks. But as I gradually opened my heart to them, I realised that this place is dedicated entirely to saving beings. It is a sanctuary of true compassion.

I watched Practitioner Su work, and the boldness she displayed was truly remarkable—it rivalled that of any man. It filled me with a deep sense of reverence. In this world, there are so few people willing to stand up and help others without asking for anything in return. It was through Practitioner Su’s Dharma talks that I came to understand the many different facets of life. I realised that life is not merely about chasing external appearances; what truly matters is where one’s spirit ultimately goes. It was through the insights gained from listening to the Dharma, time and time again, that I finally made the firm decision to seek rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss."

A Reunion in the Western Pure Land

"Sister, your goodness is what led you to the Buddha. It is because of your compassionate heart and your willingness to speak up that so many of our family members, including myself, have been saved from the cycle of rebirth.

Sister, I have seen our family here in the Western Pure Land. Everyone has become so young and full of vitality. I am so happy to see them this way. My heart has finally found peace and stability; I am no longer the frightened soul I once was.

I know the world is currently in a state of chaos, and I truly hope that everyone can find their way to peace. May the Buddha bless you all. I will say no more for now, as I wait to be reunited with the others. Once again, thank you to those who helped me: the Buddha, Practitioner Su, and my dear sister.
